Chickpea Tikka Masala

A simple vegetarian dish that pairs well with basmati rice and naan.


1 cup onion, diced

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tsp ginger, minced

1/3 cup masala or curry paste

1 can chickpeas, drained

250 ml canned diced tomatoes

500 ml plain Greek yogurt

½ cup fresh cilantro




  1. Brown onions in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Stir onions for 3 minutes or until translucent in colour.
  2. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in masala paste and cook for 30 more seconds.
  3. Stir in chickpeas and diced tomatoes. Cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Take off heat and stir in yogurt. Top with cilantro and serve with naan.
